Toxic Camera

I visited an exhibition by Jane & Louise Wilson at The Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester.

The Toxic Camera is a new film………”inspired by the film Chernobyl: A Chronicle of Difficult Weeks…by Soviet film maker Vladimir Shevchenko”

I also watched the Shevchenko film.  It is hard to believe that a quarter century has already passed since the Chernobyl disaster. I found myself wondering how many of the people in the film lived on for another 25 years.  All those healthy people contaminated by radioactivity.

During the film the word “complacency” was used in a newspaper cutting as one of the reasons for the disaster.  Sometimes we hear about “human error”.  I like the phrase “human complacency”  better.
